CHILE & ARGENTINA vol.8 / Tierra del Fuego - Puerto Natales (1999)

- Tierra del Fuego

It is a waste of energy to walk forward when hitchhiking on a single road. But I walk, because I'm afraid.

The ride was given by a quiet Mr. Edison. The vibrations of the old car playing the words in my head. So it was a drive without boredom.

Completed by strong winds.

What fills the gaps in our conversation is the sweet candy given to me by the kind driver. I couldn't help but bite it soon, and he handed another one to me. When I managed to melt it down to the last, sweetness lasted so long on my tongue and I felt like I understood his happiness a little more.

Sheep look soft and tender. Humans seem to be bursting at the seams, with all kinds of things inside.

It has been several hours since I started walking from the immigration office in Argentina to the immigration office in Chile without checking the distance. There were no buildings in sight ahead of me. The sun was about to set. All the sheep started walking in one direction at once. It was as if they were drawn together by a magnet.

Just before the date changed, I arrived at the immigration on the Chilean side. In addition to hitchhiking from early morning, I had to walk a long distance with all my luggage on my back. I must have looked terrible. The immigration officer, who broke into a smile when he saw my face, made a place for me to sleep in the corner of the office. As soon as I drank a cup of hot tea, I fell asleep.

- to Río Gallegos -

Hitchhiking again today. Today's driver is Sebastian, a man who is always eating something. He generously offered to give me a meal, so I was always full, too.

- Puerto Natales

Reduce littering with cuteness.

I was the only one stuck admiring the sky on the way back to the inn.
