PANAMA vol.1 / Panama City (1998)

- The Border of Costa Rica & Panama

The immigration officer thought I was entering the country to work, so I desperately tried to show that I had enough money. Well, I didn't have much.

- Panama City

A sudden skyscraper at the knot of continents.

A day in Panama.

At the Crossroads of the World, you can walk the streets of the skyscraper in traditional clothing.

Urban kids find sandboxes even in the narrow spaces between buildings.

I took a short break in a train coach that was placed in the park. Come to think of it, it had been a long time since I had taken a train last time, Although it did not remind me of anything, I felt strangely calm.

Cutting the land, filling the sea, the human hand is surprisingly large.

The first night, the hotel was burglarized, and the second night, a guest returned with a knife wound. The opposite hotel had burned down in a fire a month earlier. The meaning of longevity changes a bit in this old town in Panama.

The steam from the espresso pot, the aroma of coffee in the air, the flame of a candle flickering in the damp sea breeze, the sound of a guitar without a name, people crossing for a moment at the crossroads of the world, all that will soon be gone after a quiet night.
