Because of a sudden squall, I fled into the temple. Not wanting to get my clothes wet has probably been the same since time immemorial.

突然のスコールに、神殿の中へ逃げ込んだ。 服を濡らしたくないのは、たぶん大昔から同じ。

A city created by carving out the jungle. After a thousand years, it is a jungle again.

A church that looks sweet.

甘そうな教会。

White is pure white, in an active ancient city.

白が真っ白、現役の古都。

Inside the church, a place to teach the power of earthquakes.

教会内部に地震の威力を教える場所。

Light, heat and purification.

Disasters have made people build a giant cross. Maybe they are protecting the city by protecting the cross.

災害は人々に巨大な十字架を作らせた。 十字架を護ることで、街を護っているのかも。

I routinely drank orange juice with eggs at the food stall down the street. I had a feeling that, like all my previous paths to school, I would be able to walk this path for a long time to come without making a mistake.

この先の屋台で、卵入りのオレンジジュースを飲む。 今までの全ての通学路と同じように、ずっと、間違わずに歩ける気がする。

CAFE LUNA, the best coffee place in town, where I could always meet someone.

CAFE LUNA、この街で一番美味しいコーヒーが飲める場所。 ここに来れば、誰かに会えた。

Going to the neighborhood for errands. A small routine born in a travel destination.

近所までおつかいに。 旅の中の、小さな日常。

With The Stray Dog System, no matter where you throw your trash.

どこにゴミを捨てても大丈夫。 ザ・野良犬システム。

Preparing meals is a servant's job, it is the common sense of this house, one of the countless common sense that exist like bubble.

At the back of a house in a small village, under the dim light, a rainbow was being woven.

小さな村の民家の奥、薄明りの下で、虹は織られていた。

Each family has its own secret recipe for the village's specialty, fruit wine.

村名物の果実酒は家ごとに秘密のレシピ。

Came a little far for a specialty earthenware.

名物陶器を求めて少し遠くへ。

- Quetzaltenango  ケツァルテナンゴ -

I spent a month in this room, filling in the gaps between someone's memory and someone else's.

この部屋で1ヵ月、誰かと誰かの記憶の間を埋めた。

A bottle of fruit wine from Salcajá and an earthenware from Totonicapán. Gifts to let my host family know that I can now find, select and buy good products in Spanish.

サルカハの果実酒にトトニカパンの陶器。 スペイン語で名品を探して選んで買えるようになった。 そのことをホスト・ファミリーに伝えるための贈り物。

Leaving the city where I spent a month. I will never forget the city where I spent a month. The city will soon forget a foreigner who spent a month here.

1ヵ月過ごした街を出る。 1ヵ月の異国の街を、僕はずっと忘れない。 1ヵ月の異国の人を、街はすぐに忘れてしまうけど。

We always took the back of a truck to the hot springs on top of the mountain. It was nice on the way there, but on the way back it was cold after the bath.

山の上の温泉へはいつもトラックの荷台で。 行きはよいよい、帰りは湯冷め。

Each one was rocking on the same track, perhaps talking one-on-one to the world.

それぞれが、たぶん世界と一対一になって、同じ荷台で揺られていた。

Pulling in the ambiguous landscape that has remained in my heart for a long time.

あいまいな原風景を手繰る。

If I get on that truck and head for that hot spring again, will I be able to bathe in the scent of that wind again?

またあの荷台に乗って、あの温泉に向かえば、あの風の匂いを浴びられるのだろうか。

Blissful soaking in hot water surrounded by forest deep in the mountains in the middle of nowhere.

人里離れた山奥で森に囲まれ湯に浸かる至福。

The hot steam turns into a mist that covers the forest.

湯けむりが、森を覆う霧に変わる。

Life on the slopes.

一日の大半を斜面で過ごす生活。

A little festival, like the one that existed before the calendar was born.

小さな祭り。 カレンダーより前から存在していたような。

The joy of demonstrating cooking skills for someone else.

腕を振るう楽しさ。

No reason to reject anybody who comes.

来るもの拒む理由なし。

Still hard to inflate balloons.

ふーせん、むつかし。

There are so many things to play with every day.
