Growing, and growing.

にょきにょき。

Hardening ridges and valleys.

硬質化する尾根や谷。

I wanted to see the view before this.

この景色の前も見たかった。

After having been all the way around the South American continent, there was a shopping center that looked like a starting point. It is a wonder that no matter how long I have been away , I can so quickly adapt to modern things.

南米大陸ぐるりと廻ったところに、振り出しみたいなショッピングセンター。どれだけ長く離れていても、近代的なものにはすぐに順応できる不思議。

I remember thinking during this journey that I wanted to learn how to play chess. All that remained after the time that passed in a flash were the things I didn't do.

そういえばチェスを覚えたいなんて、この旅の途中で思ったこともあった。“あっという間“の後に残ったのは、やらなかったことばかり。

Sorting through the contents of my backpack in the last inn. All the props I brought from Japan that I did not use, all the things I was given or found that I could not throw away,  I needed them all for my back throughout the journey.

最後の宿でバックパックを整理する。日本から持ってきて使わなかった小道具も、捨てられなかった貰い物や拾い物も、全部、ずっと背中に必要だった。

Once I pass this ordinary road and catch a cab on the main street, I will be at the airport in no time, and the continent of South America will be far away.

この特別でない道を過ぎて、大通りでタクシーを捕まえたら、あっという間に空港に着いて、南米大陸は遥か遠くなる。

El Dorado, I love the adventurous sound of it.

黄金郷。その物騒な響きがたまらない。

- Canaima  カナイマ -

A passing traveler casually says "It's beautiful" to beauty that is unknown to locals here.

この地の住人が知らない美。通りすがりの旅行者が、さらっと「きれい」なんて言う。

Perhaps the river in my hometown also has a shape I don't know.

たぶん故郷の川も、僕の知らないかたち。

The jungle is as tough and fragile as a fungus.

ジャングルは、カビのように逞しく脆い。

Photosynthesis all over.

光合成の大盛。

So high that everything looks clean: the poisonous insects, their droppings, and the corpses that ate them.

毒虫も、その糞も、それを喰らった屍も、全てが清潔に見える高さ。

There is still so much more scenery that I don't know.

まだまだまだまだ、知らない景色だらけ。

Dinosaurs, they might be there.

恐竜、いるかもな。

- Salto Ángel  エンジェルフォール -

Like descending to earth rather than falling.

落ちる、じゃなくて、降るような、降臨するような。

If we fly over the Angel, we are just coming to a higher place, we are not becoming God.

エンジェルの上を飛んでたって、神に近づいたわけじゃない。ただ、高いところに来てるだけ。

Between the ground and space, the sky is so small.

地上と宇宙の間。空中って、狭いなぁ。

I have been immersing myself in warm, clear water , blurring the ends of my memory. Yesterday I was somewhere far away, tomorrow I will be also somewhere far away.

温く透明な水に浸り続けた、記憶の両端をぼかしながら。昨日までどこか遠くにいたような。明日、どこか遠くにいるような。

A difference of ten years will be a small difference in ten years. You are in the middle of a very special time.

十歳違いなんて、十年後には微差。君らは今、ものすごく特別なときの中。

I ate too much time aimlessly and have a bit of an upset stomach.

時間を無為に食べ過ぎて、少し胃もたれ。
