Evenings passed idly on the crumbling pier, and when night fell, I went to the villagers' dance hut. There was a fulfillment that could only come from a time of waiting.
二日間、島へ渡る船を待った。 昼間は何も無い街をぶらぶら歩き、雨が降ってきたら屋根のある場所で本を読んだ。 崩れかけの桟橋で、ぼーっと夕方は過ぎ、夜が更けたら村人たちの踊り小屋へ。 待ち時間にしか生まれない充足があった。
