- Madrid  マドリード -

I was surrounded.

包まれていた。




I want to find something familiar yet beautiful in a landscape that is beautiful because it is unfamiliar.

見慣れないから美しい景色の中に、見慣れても美しいものを見つけたい。




Museo del Jamon.

ハムの博物館。




A broccoli in the city.

街路ブロッコリー。




Well, I don't mind.

ま、別にいっか。




On the plaza, everyone plays their part with limited props.

広場の上、限られた小道具で皆演じる。




I can be honest in the square at night.

夜の広場では正直になれる気がする。




The toilet paper dancing on the subway vent at least made me happy.

地下鉄の排気口に踊るトイレットペーパー。少なくとも僕を喜ばせた。




It's a good night. It's really a good night.

いい夜だ。ほんと、いい夜だ。




A flamenco hut full of enthusiasm.

充ちるフラメンコ小屋。




Life is a burning thing, apparently.

生命は燃えているものらしい。




It's hard to end the night by myself.

夜を自分で終わらせるのは難しい。

Maybe he just found her, a woman born into the world of the painting.

見つけただけなのかもしれない。絵の中の世界に生まれた女性を。




Clothed face.

着衣の顔。




Naked face.

裸の顔。




Because we can never look the same, not even for just 10 years.

たった10年も同じ姿ではいられないから。




The day he painted it, it was probably sunny, his stomach was eight-tenths full, and he must have felt very comfortable.

描いた日は、たぶん晴れてて、腹も8分目で、さぞ心地よかったんだろうな。




What eyes did he see under the shadows?

I don't know if these paintings that somehow caught my attention will one day bring me something or not.

Being protected also means not being able to touch something.

護られるということは、何かに触れられないということでもある。




The sun cares for everyone.

太陽は八方美人。




Both organisms and buildings are more complex on the inside.

生物も建物も内側の方が複雑。




Many fountains let water out of mouths, even though they don't look pretty.

なぜ口から水出す噴水が多いのか。




No one knows if we are seeing the same colors, even though it seems so certain.

同じ色を見ているかなんて誰にもわからない。こんなに確からしくても。




Take a break at the bar where there is no welcome or rejection.

歓迎も拒絶もないバールでひと休み。




Sprinkling for green, or green for sprinkling? Either way, it's cool to humans.

緑のための散水か、散水のための緑か。どちらにしても人間に涼しい。

Looking back, I always took greenery for granted.

思い返せば、ずっと当たり前に緑があった。

We mass-produce too many straight lines and miss the curves.

直線を量産しすぎて、曲線を懐かしむ。




Come to think of it, there are few straight lines in children's drawings.

そういえば子供の絵には直線が少ない。




I think they were trying to find rather than create.

創るのではなく、見つけようとしていたのだと思う。




From the countless coincidences, we salvage what should not be momentary.

幾多の偶然の中から、刹那にしてはならないものを救い上げる。




Own the sky.

空を飼う。




Who felt the pull of the sky rather than gravity.

重力よりも空の引力を感じていた人。






- Parc Güell  グエル公園 -

A pathway from a picture book of long ago.

絵本の中にあった道。




It's not like ant lions or dung beetles. Humans knead the soil in a human way.

アリジゴクともフンコロガシとも違う。人間は、人間らしく土をこねる。




If you imagine what's underneath, you can get excited about all the ground.

その下を想像すれば、あらゆる地面にワクワクできる。




Sitting down with someone. A place where you can remember the joy of such a simple activity.

誰かと一緒に座る。そんなシンプルな行為の楽しさを思い出せる場所。




The park pulsates erratically.

不規則に脈打つ公園。




The work of living things.

生き物の仕業。




Steel that balloons lightly beyond belief.

思い込みを軽々超えて膨らむ鋼鉄。




The world is a joyful collage.

世界は愉快なコラージュ。

Bones retain their shape longer than flesh.

骨は肉よりも長くそのカタチを保つ。

This one is alive.

生きてる。




It lives longer than an individual human and keeps changing.

人より長く生き、変わり続ける。




There were bones, in the building like a living creature.

骨があった。生き物のような建物の中に。




Various expressions.

表情さまざま。





JESUS is here.

JESUSみっけ。




A revolutionary concept called numbers. I hope something will be born someday that will overturn it, and then it will be overturned again.

数字という革命的概念。それを覆す何かが、いつか生まれ、また覆されるといい。




Something I knew, but had never seen before.

知っているのに、見たことのなかったものを。




Perhaps always unique.

たぶん、ずっとユニーク。




Many children build towers out of clay, most of which disappear before the decade.

多くの子供が紙粘土で塔をつくり、そのほとんどが10年を待たずに消える。




All the huge buildings are made by humans.

巨大な建物、ぜんぶ人間作。




No tall building can surpass the height of the crane that builds it.

どんな高い建物も、それを建てるクレーンの高さは越えられない。




There seems to be something that dwells only in the wind through the spire.

尖塔を抜けた風だけに宿るものがありそうで。




Truth must be so simple and complex that it is very hard for humans to understand.

真理は、単純で複雑なんだろうな。人間にはとても理解できないほど。
